Sustainable Holiday Beach House at Edward Point by Studio 101 Architects

Beach House at Edward Point by Studio 101 Architects
This Beach House was conceived by Studio 101 Architects as a sustainable, sensitive and delicate fusion of form and materials that would also nestle into the treed coastal environment. Located at Edward Point, it was created as a new playful and exciting environment without remove sentimentally existing form and material. The design concept involved re-working the ground floor planning, peeling back the existing roof and sensitively grafting and floating a new timber clad upper level with infill glazing incorporated to the north and south for a sense of lightness, views and transparency.

Internally, a new central storage spine horizontally separates and delineates the living zone from the bedrooms. A central storage spine separates the living room and bedrooms. Meanwhile a timber lined wet area pod connected the upper and lower level forming a new mezzanine parents retreat while also creating a thermal chimney effect siphoning out the rising hot air in summer. It is also useful for creating a separate space to give privacy for parents.
