This cliff house project was developed by San Francisco-based studio Mark Dziewulski Architect. Capturing the natural beauty of the massive granite boulders nestled in the sand beneath the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, together with the pristine alpine sky of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a single gaze, is a vision that continues to elude the accomplished artists. The “Lake House”, as it is modestly referred to by the owners, exudes the true essence of the “Lake of the Sky”. This 8,694 square foot five story contemporary home all made of steel, concrete and glass features four bedroom, four bathroom, a glass elevator, a six level glass stairwell and of course a private pier. The site of this project was on the edge of a small, man-made lake, inside a property adjacent to Kaoyai National Park. The selected placement of the cluster was to maximize the views, ventilation and privacy. With part of the land curving around the lake, and a gentle slope towards the lake, the best lake view scenery was selected and framed to be the main view of the living and dining compound. (more…)
This modular Aqua Floathome is designed by Steeltec37 in Lusatian Lake District in Germany. This floating house offers the experience of freedom, combined with a maritime flair – a feeling of life which everyone has always dreamed of. Inspired by transparency, surrounded with nature and harmony. An unsinkable pontoon offers security and provides the basis for the dream – water living. This residence features steel rectangular tubes for support, a vaulted roof to give it that sailboat appeal, an innovative air-vapor barrier membrane and quality thermal insulation. This project is designed by Katrin Oggesen from Berlin-based studio Archibald Buro. This 2,600 sqf Lakeshore House is located in the “Wildpark West”, a woodland residential estate outside Potsdam. The house formed in massive wooden plates (“Lenotec”) fabricated by Finnforest in the German Schwarzwald. These Lenotec elements are fixed & then wrapped with wooden insulation (gutex). (more…)
