Shadow House by Liddicoat Goldhill

This small city house is designed by Liddicoat & Goldhill in Camden, North London. The architect aims to create intense interior spaces with maximum emotional effect. This modest single house sited on 38m2. The project context was industrial-era, using a dutch-format engineering brick with a black glazed finish resembling the cut face of coal. A contrast made with sheer, frameless glazing, and with accents of white statuarietto marble, echoing the plaster reveals and porticoes of the surrounding Victorian architecture. (more…)

This house has plane configuration of three layers. Along a north-south from road side in that order the BUFFER, BODY and SLOT. There is an intermediate region between the inner spaces that make up the facade with wooden louvers at BUFFER of the road side. There is a courtyard, an outside room, and a terrace.
