Midnight Pass House by DSDG Inc. Architects in Sarasota, a city on the southwestern coast of Florida, USA:
The concept began with creating a modern residence for a family of five by taking advantage of outdoor and indoor living. The site for this residence is a one acre wooded waterfront property on Siesta Key with water and city views to the East and South. The residence is structured around a central round, double height living room with an open loft den penetrating the space on the second level. Two axes extend from the center of the radial living room to the entry creating the center of the grand steel and glass staircase, out to form the edge of the exterior hardscaping and to the rear creating the edge of the large double height volume outdoor living space and edge of pool deck. House Aboobaker by Nico van der Meulen Architects

This project was a redesign of outdated home by Nico van der Meulen Architects on climate area in Limpopo, South Africa. The brief was to transform the look of the existing visually unattractive face brick house with vaulted roofs, small windows to something stunning and modern. The street façade transformed to an inviting entrance with a water feature. The client also requested a new guest bedroom on first floor, to open up the living areas, and redesign the bedroom section which had an ‘old school’ style long dark passage. (more…)

XV House by Robert Skitek Plus

The XV house is located on calm district near the old town of Cracow with beautiful view of Wawel and the mountains. The idea was build a house as high as possible to catch the view, and preserve spatial relations between all floors with the largest as possible opening of the space. The building distinguished by its cubic form and smooth white elevations, it is the dominant culmination of the surrounding architecture. The shifting blocks are intended to reduce the relatively large optical cubature, whilst also reflecting the functional zones within the house. (more…)
