House at Hillside by Nota Design International pte Ltd
Nota Design International pte Ltd has design this “House at Hillside” in Singapore. This house is a half a century old single storey terrace with an attic and is located in a huge residential zone. The concept for this project was to retrofit in effective cost, features sustainable design and create a symbiosis of Art and Design.
To achieve those aims, need more creativity to build a low budget house without neglect the aesthetic and quality. First, the architect demolish the old masonry walls in living room, they also place 2 sets of new full-height timber-framed clear glass pivot panels to provide good cross ventilation across the length of the house when doors are opened. Flat ceiling also replaced with new high ceiling to expose the huge space under the high pitch roof.
The 2 bedrooms were retained with a doorway to allow direct access to the front kids’ room. The small window in the master bedroom fronting the air well is transformed into a large doorway to allow occupant to enjoy natural air and greenery from the bed day and night. The locations of the kitchen, storeroom, attic space and the 2 bathrooms were left unchanged with much cosmetic modification.
